The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Forks has issued blizzard warnings for much of eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota.

The NWS tells KBMW News that strong winds are expected to spread south starting Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. This is expected to cause whiteout conditions in rural areas.  Wind chills will also fall to dangerous levels, as low as -45° F, through Friday morning.

Visibility will improve gradually on Thursday as the wind weakens
